A Gentle Return to Myself: My Healing Journey

Life is all about the people we encounter, the experiences we have, the emotions we go through and how we evolve through it all. Along this journey, we collect memories, that stay with us for life. We do not always have a choice about what comes our way, but we do have a choice in how we handle things and how we let those things to impact us.

We can keep holding onto the moment and to the pain or choose to release the pain attached to the unhappy moments to heal ourselves.

What You Seek Is Seeking You: How Healing Found Me

“If you do not heal yourself, you will bleed on those who did not cut you.”

This saying has stayed with me since long. Our triggers can make us a completely different person. We start reacting instead of responding. And slowly, without realizing, it starts affecting the people around us too. Healing requires a conscious decision: to let go of what hurts, so we can return to ourselves.

That’s when I made a conscious choice: I want to heal.

As Rumi said, “What you seek is seeking you.” I sought healing so deeply that life brought the right support my way.

Suddenly I crossed paths with an old friend of mine one day. Came to know that she leads the MVM Kasturi initiative aimed at guiding and reconnecting people with their true self. I sought support from her and began working on my overthinking, anxiety, and emotional triggers.

When Faith Met Healing

I felt a kind of divine intervention in my life and seemed as if God wants me to heal. Led by faith, I surrendered to the guidance and followed her with true intent to heal. It has been around 3 months now and I can already feel the shift. I can genuinely see a huge change in myself.

1) Emotions: Recognising is the first step

As humans, it’s not always easy to control our emotions, but recognising them is where healing begins.

I have started acknowledging my feelings and naming them. Naming them makes it easier to understand what I’m truly feeling and why. And letting go becomes easier when I can identify what’s going on inside me.

2) Pause: The most powerful practice in today’s world

The most important thing in today’s times is pausing.

We are always running; starting early mornings, managing work, home, responsibilities. We rarely pause and reflect. During my healing journey over the past few months, I have learned to pause:

  • Pause when I feel tired
  • Pause when I feel overwhelmed
  • Pause when I feel confused
  • Pause when I feel blank
  • Pause when I feel full
  • Pause when I feel happy
  • Pause when I feel sad

PAUSE : this one practice helps me reconnect with my original self.

3) Connection with the Almighty

Daily practice of gratitude has helped me restore my faith in the Universe and remember that God is in control.

He gives us more than we can ever imagine. He loves us in ways we cannot always see, ways we cannot always understand. He speaks to us throughout the day through signs. We only need to be open to the conversation.

You cannot pour from an empty cup

We want to love everyone. We want to help everyone. We want to be there for the people around us. But we cannot help others feel fulfilled if we are empty from within.

Healing completes us. Healing fulfills us. And that is the only way we can truly show up for others. My healing has helped me a lot.

But I am still on the journey. I am on a journey to reconnect with my authentic self.

I’m grateful to God for guiding me towards healing and grateful to the MVM Kasturi initiative, for supporting me on this path of fulfilment. I feel loved, blessed, and held closely by God.

I will keep writing about my journey more.

Stay connected.
